So, what are some interesting Halloween costumes to try your hand at in 2023?

Angel or Demon Costume

The famous TV show Good Omens has boosted the increase in angel and demon costumes, and with the new series coming out this year, now is the perfect time to look into these polarizing looks as a costume.

Of course, you can go as the sexy demon or angel, or you can take it in a more Biblical direction and opt to emulate how these ethereal beings are described in this book. A lot of fun to try, and it can create some truly iconic looks if you have the right special FX makeup and the skill.

Witch Costume

OK, so this can seem basic, but, much like the demon and angel costume, with a bit of research and imagination, this can go from the boring black pointy hat to something that will turn heads.

Witches have such a cultural range that it can be fun to try a witch costume that links to the history of your own culture. Or, why not take it in a more magical direction, and paint runes on yourself to add an eye-catching aesthetic?

Moth or Butterfly Costume

Most people fall on one side of the coin; they either love moths or butterflies.

In recent years, more people have looked to emulate the beauty of these insects using cloth wings, as opposed to standard metal ones, and have also tried their hand at creating a hybrid look with their facial makeup. This can have a striking impact when it is applied to a moth-based costume, as they have interesting faces! So, if you are up for a challenge and aren’t afraid of using prosthetics in 2023, going as either a moth or butterfly can be a beautiful (or creepy) costume to try.

Bee Costume

Another costume that has wings is a bee; who doesn’t love bees?

There are more types than the standard bumblebee, and it can be a great option for people who love insects or animals, making it a good choice for children or even families. Why not go as an entire hive?

There are lots of accessories that can be used here, too, such as if you have a dog who wants to dress up and get in on the Halloween spirit, why not dress them as the beehive?

Mermaid Costume

The Disney live-action remake of The Little Mermaid has prompted a whole new barrage of dolls to be made, as well as prompting ideas for new costumes.

It has also reignited the world’s love of mermaids, so if you want to stick with the standard costumes that have been displayed in this film, you will probably be able to get them online. Or, if you are opting for a more personalized touch to your Halloween mermaid costume, you could, of course, make it a darker version, taking it in a siren direction or even making an environmental statement by adding lots of plastic to the costume. Of course, the option that you go for is entirely up to you, but horror and mermaids can be an interesting combination!
