“California Dreamin’” – Mimi Farina
Mimi Farina is known for her role as Lisa Marie Presley’s mother in Elvis Presley: What Happened? She also appeared in movies like Dirty Dancing and True Romance. However, she is probably most famous for writing and singing this timeless hit. It was originally recorded by Glen Campbell back in 1966. But Mimi made it a lot better and we now know it as California Dreamin’. If you listen to this wonderful song carefully, you will notice several references to Hollywood such as Laurel Canyon where many rock stars used to live.
“Warm Leatherette” – The Smiths
This song serves as the opening track for Morrissey and Johnny Marr’s debut record, The Smiths. According to Rolling Stone magazine, this song was inspired by the leather jackets worn by fans at Manchester football matches. Morrissey started wearing one himself and this led to the creation of this beautiful tune.
